Did you know that in Hong Kong Island there is a place where natural and urban scenery engaged with each other, and it is only 15 minutes walk from the heart of Wan Chai?
This is Bowen Road, on the slope above Central, Wan Chai and Happy Valley.
The road was named after George Bowen, the 9th Governor of Hong Kong, from 1883 to 1885. It was called "Third Road" by residents in Hong Kong before for being the third east-west road from the shore at that time. ("First Road" and "Second Road" were Queen's Road and Kennedy Road respectively.)
It is a very scenery road which is popular among joggers and dog walkers.
One of the ways to access Bowen Road is go to Kennedy Road by reaching the 17th Floor of Hopewell Centre in Wan Chai. Then walk down for 5 minutes until you see the sign of Bowen Road Walk. Walk up for 10 more minutes and you will reach Bowen Road!
If you walk until the end of Bowen Road in Mid-Level, you can find a century-old British building. Please see the guide here.
