The salt farm in Hong Kong, Yim Tin Tsai

Yim Tin Tsai is a small island located south of Sai Kung Peninsula. It takes around 10min by boat from Sai Kung Pier.

It has a long history which the villagers were one of the earliest baptised local people in Hong Kong. It was quite a challenge for the priest at that time when all the villagers at that time worshipped different Chinese gods.

“Yim Tin” means “salt farm” in Chinese. For obvious reasons, this place was famous of producing salt in Hong Kong. Even though in recent decades there were only few people left living in this island, the chief of the village has been working hard to restore the place. Not only they restored the salt farms for education purposes, they have also created different beautiful facilities for visitors to relax (and take Instagram photos). It is a great place worth the visit for an afternoon.
