If you’re a tourist looking for a cherry blossom spot in Hong Kong that’s easy to reach from the airport area, add HKIA’s Cherry Blossom Garden (櫻花園) to your itinerary. Every spring, the garden turns into a dreamy pink sakura walkway, using cherry blossom varieties chosen to suit Hong Kong’s climate—so you can enjoy a “Japan-style” spring photo moment without leaving the city.
Why it’s worth a visit (for tourists)
This is one of the most convenient seasonal attractions near Hong Kong International Airport, especially if you’re staying around Tung Chung, visiting Ngong Ping 360, or planning a quick “stopover-style” sightseeing day. The sakura path is short, sweet, and very photogenic—perfect for travel photos, couple shots, or a fast spring update for your Hong Kong trip.
Sakura season: short and weather-dependent
Cherry blossoms here typically last around 7 to 14 days, and the timing changes each year depending on the weather. If you’re travelling in Hong Kong’s early spring, check updates and go as soon as the garden is in bloom because peak pink doesn’t last long.
Rules you must know (don’t get turned away)
To keep the experience safe and enjoyable, please do not:
- Set up tents
- Step on the grass
- Bring pets
- Fly or operate small drones
How to get to HKIA Cherry Blossom Garden
The garden is accessible by public transport, and it’s easiest via Tung Chung.
Option 1: Bus from Tung Chung (S routes)
From Tung Chung Bus Terminus, take airport-bound “S” routes: S1, S52, S52A, S52P, S56, S64, S64C, S64P, or S64X. Get off at the Aircraft Fuel Depot stop (飛機燃料庫站), then walk along Scenic Road (觀景路) towards the petrol station direction.
Option 2: Bus from the city (E routes)
From urban areas, take airport-bound “E” routes: E11, E11A, E21, E21D, E22, E22A, E23, or E23A, and get off at the Chek Lap Kok South Road stop (赤鱲角南路站).
Option 3: Walk from Tung Chung MTR (simple and scenic)
From Tung Chung MTR Station, walk past the Ngong Ping 360 cable car terminal and continue along Chek Lap Kok South Road for about 15 minutes.
Photo tips for tourists
Go early for fewer people, and shoot both wide frames (the full “pink walkway”) and close-ups (petals + branches) so your post still looks great even if the bloom isn’t 100% full. Since the viewing window is short, treat it like a limited-time attraction—if the garden is open and the flowers are out, go that day.
