Chinese New Year Guide: Where to go during CNY in Hong Kong?
Hong Kong is full of celebrations during Chinese New Year. What are the big events which people would love to enjoy and spend their days?
Temples
Visit one of the many temples to pray for health and prosperity in the upcoming year for you, your family and your lobed ones.
Many locals believe that visiting temples right after the first day of the year starts (which means 12:01am on 5th Feb in 2019) would bring them extra luck.

Fireworks
Taking place in Victoria Harbour each Chinese New Year, the CNY fireworks are a stunning display of beautiful colours in the sky.
Date: 6 February, 8pm to 8:30pm Venue: Victoria Harbour between Central and Tsim Sha Tsui
Hong Kong Well-wishing Festival
Visiting Lam Tsuen Wishing Trees is a popular tradition during the Chinese New Year. Visitors write their wishes on a paper, tie them to a string with an orange and toss it over the tree. If the orange and paper remain hanging on the tree it means their wishes will come true.
Date: 5 February to Sunday, 4 March Venue: Lam Tsuen, Tai Po
Cathay Pacific Parade
The Cathay Pacific International Chinese New Year Parade is probably one of the highlights Hong Kong people would think about during Chinese New Year. Tsim Sha Tsui harbour front will become a giant street party.
You can cram along the parade route which the best vantage locations are along Canton Road outside Harbour City, Haiphong Road or the junction of Nathan and Peking Roads outside Chungking Mansions. Or simply watch it from home or hotel because the entire event will be broadcasted on TVB Jade.
Date: 5 February, 8pm to 9:45pm (A variety of street performances will entertain the crowds along the route from 6pm onwards)
Venue: Major roads in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. Parade starts with an opening ceremony at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza. First float and performing group will arrive at Canton Road at around 8:30pm, Haiphong Road at 8:50pm and Nathan Road at 9pm.
