"Lovers Bridge" in Shek O destroyed by Typhoon Mangkhut
Besides the last gas street lamps in Duddell Street was damaged, the well-known tourist spot “Lovers Bridge” in Shek O was totally destroyed by the monster typhoon "Mangkhut" on 16th September, 2018.
The bridge was a famous dating site which was painted powder blue in order to create a romantic atmosphere, and it was a popular site for photographers and video makers.

Unfortunately, after Mangkhut battered Hong Kong, on 17th September, 2018, it was reported that the beautiful bridge was gone, with its broken pieces scattered in the creek it used to span.

According to Shek O residents, the bridge was built by the government but it was unknown when it was created.
It is yet to know whether the bridge will be restored.
