Central & Western District Promenade

Hong Kong Government is planning a project of building a promenade at the northern coastline of Hong Kong Island. They aim to have a promenade starting from the west, Kennedy Town until the east side, Siu Sai Wan.

One part of the promenade has newly opened. It is "Central and Western District Promenade - Western Wholesale Food Market Section" in Sai Wan.

Transportation

You can access the promenade from Hong Kong University Station Exit B2, and then walk towards the coastline for 5 minutes.

Or Get off from Shek Tong Tsui Tram Terminus and then walk for 3 minutes.

History

This promenade was part of the Wholesale food market. Therefore some old equipments of the piers were kept and revitalised.

Highlights

Next to it is the Western District Cargo Working Area aka "Instagram Pier" because it is a great place to take awesome instagram photos such as the sunset.

The promenade is 600m long, with a 135 depress of ocean view including the West Kowloon Side.

Tips: Since it has a playground for kids, it is quite crowded during weekends. If you prefer a quiet atmosphere, it is better for you to go on weekdays.
